After 17 years of service Barry and Linda Barnes have decided to step down from the day to day running of the the village hall. They deserve a big thank you from all in the village for the good job they have done in bringing up the standards and providing an excellent facility. Thanks should also go to Chris Hales for his work as secretary.
The village hall will now be run by Gina & Stephen Creasey from Meadow view (next to hall) and Barbara and Martin Silveston of Holwell House.

Good to see the local buzzards circling over Holwell last weekend - the weather was perfect for them to just circle and soar - they surely do this for enjoyment as there was no sign of any hunting that I can see. If you havent seen them yet listen for the Meuw sound they make and then look up high in the sky, its easier than trying to spot them by sight only. To my knowledge these birds have only been in this area for 2-3 years as the buzzard has become more widespread recently. If anyone can get a decent photo (See my effort on the wildlife page) then I can post on this site.

THE Barn Owl has declined in Britain and the Holwell, Ickleford and Pirton Barn Owl Project aims to conserve the small number of these beautiful birds that are coming back to this part of Hertfordshire.
A series of routes have been devised by the Barn Owl Project Steering Group, which consists of local volunteers and is supported by the Countryside Management Service.
